Robby Krieger
The guitarist for this band was trained early on in Flimenco style, creating an almost exotic and hypnotic sound in the Doors music. More often than not you can hear him playing bottleneck. He was the only Door opposed to drugs and tryed his best to stay away from them. He was the most tolerant of Jim's antics.
Ray Manzarek
Ray was the co-founder of the group. Born in LA California, Ray attended UCLA's film course. That was where he met Jim, taking a liking to his movies where few others did. ray was walking on the beach near the Sunset Strip when he came across Morrison, diligently writing poetry. ray convinced him to sing one of the poems (Moonlight Drive) and they desided they should start a band. Manzarek was a classically trained organ player and wrote music, providing the theoritical background the group needed. A note: insted of having a bass player, ray played all the bass lines with his left hand. The band thought the bass wasn't right for thier sound.
Jim Morrison
Jim Morrison
was what made the Doors great. If he could be compared to anyone it would
be the god Dionysis who came down from the mountians and drove the women
crazy. He wasn't much of a singer, but he put on quite a show. Much of
the time he was drunk or high, adding to his madness, cousing him to writhe
on the floor, jump around the stage, show his contempt for all authority.
He once said, "When you make your peace with authority, you become an authority."
This page is under heavy construction. Plese come back for more info on all the Doors, and maybe even ome on John Densmore (didn't have time to add that in).
